What we collect, which is very little, and what happens to it.

What We Collect

Reading this site requires nothing from you. There is no account, no login and no paywall, and we do not ask for an email address to show you a guide.

Two things do collect data. If you use the search box, the term you searched is logged so we can see which questions the site fails to answer. That log records the query and the number of results, never who typed it. If you send a message through the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you provide, so that we can reply.

Analytics

We use analytics to count page views and see which guides are read. This tells us which pages need work. It is aggregate traffic data, and we do not use it to build a profile of you or to target advertising.

Cookies

The site stores your light or dark theme preference in your browser so it survives a reload. That value never leaves your device and is not sent to us. Analytics may set its own cookies, which your browser settings can block without breaking anything here.

What We Do Not Do

We do not sell or rent personal data. We do not share your contact message with anyone outside the people who answer it. We do not run advertising networks that follow you between sites, and we have no affiliate arrangements with contractors or manufacturers.

Search Logs in Detail

The search log exists for one purpose: finding the questions this site does not answer. A term that returns nothing tells us a guide is missing, and those gaps drive what gets written next. The record is the query text, the number of results it returned, and the date. It carries no identifier that ties a search back to a person, and we do not attempt to reconstruct one.

Your Data

If you have sent us a message and want it deleted, ask on the contact pageand we will remove it. Because we hold so little, that is usually the whole of it.

What follows will change if what we collect changes. There is no version history worth publishing at this size, so the practical assurance is the one above: no accounts, no advertising networks, no sale of data, and nothing collected that we do not need in order to answer you.
