PartSelect Review for DIY Repairs
Factory parts, fast shipping and a full year to return them.

PartSelect is a good first stop for a DIY appliance repair when you have the model number and want the factory part. Our PartSelect review comes down to three things: original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts only, a 365-day return window on unused parts and a one-year warranty on parts that fail. We also cover what common parts cost and how PartSelect compares to RepairClinic, Sears PartsDirect and Amazon.
At DIY Repair Guide, we compiled the figures below from PartSelect's own policy pages and live part listings in October 2026. We did not buy or install the parts ourselves. Prices and policies change, so treat every number here as accurate as of October 2026.
What PartSelect Is and Who It Serves
PartSelect is an online store for replacement parts, aimed at homeowners who do their own repairs. According to PartSelect's About page, the site launched in 1999 and is a division of Eldis Group, a parts company that dates to 1945. The About page lists more than 2 million parts.
The catalog covers major appliances first: refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, microwaves, disposers and water heaters. It also sells parts for lawn and garden equipment, heating and cooling units, power tools, grills and small appliances. The brand list runs from Whirlpool, GE, Frigidaire, Samsung, LG, Kenmore, Maytag and Bosch to outdoor brands such as Toro, Husqvarna and Briggs and Stratton.
PartSelect ships to physical addresses in the contiguous United States. Its Help page says it does not ship to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, US territories or APO/FPO military addresses, and Canadian buyers are sent to the separate PartSelect Canada site.
The Benefits That Make PartSelect Stand Out
PartSelect's main pitch is that it sells only OEM parts. An OEM part is made or supplied by the company that built your appliance, so it matches the part number on the factory parts list. PartSelect's About page says it does not sell knockoffs. That matters on safety parts such as a dryer thermal fuse, where the replacement has to match the original rating.
The other benefits fall into five groups:
- Model-number diagrams. You type your model number and get the factory exploded diagrams, with each numbered part linked to a listing. You can match the part by its position in the drawing before you order, which cuts down on wrong-part returns.
- Serial-number series matching. The Help page explains how to pick the right part when a maker changed a component mid-production. You compare the series number on the listing with the first characters of your serial number.
- Same-day shipping. In-stock parts ordered before 4:00 PM Eastern ship the same business day. PartSelect's shipping page gives an average Standard delivery time of 1.8 business days and says 95% of customers get in-stock parts within 2 days.
- Repair help on the same site. PartSelect lists nearly 3,000 technician-hosted repair videos, more than 120,000 answered repair questions and more than 80,000 customer install stories. You can watch the removal steps for your exact part before deciding whether the job is within your skills.
- Long return window and a part warranty. Returns are accepted for 365 days, and failed parts are covered for a year. Both have conditions, covered below.
PartSelect Return Policy and Warranty Terms
The 365-day return window covers unused parts only. PartSelect's returns page requires the part to be resaleable, which it defines as no signs of installation, no marks or scuffs, and the original packaging. Electrical parts get extra scrutiny, and a rejected return is not shipped back to you.
You pay return shipping unless PartSelect made the error or the part was lost in transit. In those cases, you need to contact PartSelect within 10 business days. Refunds appear 7 to 10 business days after the return is processed.
The one-year warranty covers parts you did install. If a part fails within its first year, PartSelect sends a free replacement. You pay shipping on the replacement, and the warranty excludes normal wear and tear and water filters. You may need to give your model and serial numbers to qualify.
Before you open the bag, compare the new part with the old one side by side. An installed electrical part, such as a control board or thermostat, generally cannot be returned for a refund. If it fails later, the warranty replaces it, but you do not get your money back.
What PartSelect Charges for Common Parts
PartSelect prices are listed per part, and shipping is added at checkout based on the method you choose. Standard, slower EconoShip and Next Business Day options are offered on in-stock items. The table shows live prices on six common Whirlpool parts that turn up in dryer, washer, dishwasher and refrigerator repairs.
| Part | Part number | Used in | PartSelect price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dryer thermal fuse | WP3392519 | Dryer with no heat | $17.15 |
| Dryer drum support roller | WPW10314173 | Squeaking or thumping dryer | $19.30 |
| Dryer cycling thermostat | WP3387134 | Dryer running too hot or cold | $26.82 |
| Dishwasher overfill switch | WPW10195039 | Dishwasher that will not fill | $47.40 |
| Refrigerator water filter | EDR1RXD1 | Six-month filter change | $84.45 |
| Washer drain pump | WPW10730972 | Washer that will not drain or spin | $109.42 |
How the PartSelect Price Match Works
PartSelect prices are not always the lowest. On October 14, 2026, the same EDR1RXD1 water filter listed at $84.45 on PartSelect and $75.14 on the Sears PartsDirect homepage. The PartSelect price match policy exists to close gaps like that one.
The rules are narrow. The competing part must be the identical OEM part number, new, in stock and sold by an established US online retailer that specializes in OEM parts. PartSelect does not match eBay, Amazon Marketplace, Walmart Marketplace, flash-sale sites or aftermarket sellers. Coupon codes and loyalty pricing do not count either.
You file the request within 14 days of your PartSelect purchase, one form per part. The review takes 3 to 5 business days, and an approved request refunds the pre-tax price difference to your original payment method. Shipping and tax are not refunded.
For water filters, PartSelect also offers a subscription that ships OEM filters every 3, 6 or 12 months with no shipping charge.
PartSelect vs RepairClinic, Sears PartsDirect and Amazon
PartSelect's closest rival is RepairClinic, which also advertises genuine OEM parts, 365-day returns on uninstalled parts and a price match guarantee. On paper, those two stores offer similar return terms. The deciding factors are usually price on your specific part and whose diagram or video matches your model.
Sears PartsDirect, run by Transform SR Brands, advertises genuine OEM parts, same-day shipping on most parts and 60-day returns on uninstalled parts. Its top sellers lean on Kenmore, the Sears house brand. Its EDR1RXD1 water filter price was lower than PartSelect's on the day we checked.
Amazon search results for a part number often mix OEM listings with aftermarket parts sold as compatible, from many third-party sellers. Some of those parts work fine. The trouble is checking which one you are buying and who backs it if it fails.
| PartSelect | RepairClinic | Sears PartsDirect | Amazon | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Parts sold | OEM only | Genuine OEM | Genuine OEM | OEM and aftermarket mixed |
| Return window | 365 days, unused parts | 365 days, uninstalled parts | 60 days, uninstalled parts | Varies by listing |
| Part warranty | 1 year, free replacement | Not stated on pages checked | Not stated on pages checked | Varies by seller |
| Price match | Yes, OEM retailers only | Yes | Not stated on pages checked | Not checked |
| Shipping speed | Same day if ordered by 4 PM Eastern, 1.8-day average | Not stated on pages checked | Same day on most parts | Varies by listing |
PartSelect Drawbacks to Know Before You Order
PartSelect has four limits worth checking against your repair:
- OEM prices run higher. An aftermarket copy of a thermal fuse or drum roller can cost less. PartSelect does not sell those, so a buyer who only wants the cheapest part that fits will find lower prices elsewhere.
- Return shipping is on you. Unless PartSelect shipped the wrong part, a change-of-mind return costs you the postage.
- Installed parts are not refundable. The 365-day window does not help if you installed a part and it did not fix the fault. Diagnose first. For a dryer with no heat, our dryer not heating guide walks through the order of checks, and you can check continuity with a multimeter to confirm a fuse or switch has failed before you buy one.
- Back-ordered parts are slow. On Order parts usually ship in 7 to 10 business days, and Special Order parts in 10 to 14. If your only refrigerator is down, check the stock status before you commit.
Our PartSelect Review Verdict
PartSelect is our first pick for a DIY appliance repair when you know your model number and want the factory part with a long return window. The model diagrams and part-specific videos make it easier to order the right part the first time. The one-year warranty covers a part that fails after you install it.
PartSelect is not for everyone. If you are on a tight budget and are comfortable with aftermarket parts, a third-party listing will usually cost less. If you do not want to open the appliance at all, a parts store does not solve the problem. Book a local appliance technician instead, and ask whether they supply the part.
Our answer would change if PartSelect shortened its 365-day return window, dropped the one-year warranty or started mixing aftermarket parts into its catalog. It would also change if a rival matched those terms at consistently lower prices.
Find the model number tag on your appliance, then search it on PartSelect and compare the price with one other OEM retailer before you order.
Common questions
Is PartSelect legit?
Yes. PartSelect has sold parts online since 1999 and is a division of Eldis Group, which has served do-it-yourselfers since 1945. It publishes its return, warranty and price match terms in full on its own site.
Does PartSelect sell genuine OEM parts?
PartSelect says it sells only original equipment manufacturer parts, the same parts the appliance maker supplies. It does not list aftermarket or knockoff parts.
How long does PartSelect shipping take?
In-stock parts ordered before 4:00 PM Eastern ship the same business day. PartSelect says Standard shipping averages 1.8 business days and that 95% of customers get in-stock parts within 2 days. Rural addresses can take 2 to 3 business days.
Can I return a part to PartSelect after installing it?
Generally no. Returns must be in resaleable condition with no signs of installation and in the original packaging. If an installed part fails within a year, the one-year warranty sends a free replacement instead.
Is PartSelect cheaper than RepairClinic or Sears PartsDirect?
It depends on the part. On October 14, 2026, an EDR1RXD1 water filter cost $84.45 at PartSelect and $75.14 at Sears PartsDirect. PartSelect's price match can refund the difference within 14 days if the competitor meets its rules.
Does PartSelect ship to Canada, Alaska or Hawaii?
No. PartSelect.com ships to the contiguous United States only. Canadian buyers use PartSelect Canada at partselect.ca.
